We are taking provisional bookings only from July 4th 2020. If travel isn’t possible by your arrival date due to the pandemic & subsequent restrictions, we will offer a transfer to another date or complete refund.
We are limiting visitors to 2 households per week until September 2020 to enable social distancing on the boat journey to Rona, after which, we will review the situation.
We have completed a full risk analysis for your visit and have the following social distancing & cleaning protocols in place to keep you, our local area, and the Isle of Rona safe.
We will be emailing guests with a health screening questionnaire for completion and return prior to arrival.
Please bring your own facemasks and disposable gloves to wear in the Skye establishments/shops that you visit, and on the boat journey to, and arrival on, Rona, as is deemed necessary at the time by the Scottish Government, our boat operators, and the Isle of Rona estate.
We ask you to shop for your holiday supplies in the usual shops in your local area prior to arrival on Skye. If further fresh provisions are needed, the trips to Skye shops should be as brief, and by as few (preferably just one) persons as possible. We will email a list of produce available to buy on the island a week before arrival.
We are arranging for later afternoon sailings for those unable to find accommodation on Skye prior to the normal early morning departure.
When more than one household is due for arrival: we will issue staggered loading times for the boat journey prior to arrival.
Due to the narrow gangways in Portree harbour, and on Rona, and the confined space on the boat, unfortunately we have to ask you to load & unload your own luggage. If you are unable to do so, please let us know beforehand, and you will be asked to stand clear whilst the boat operators/ourselves do this.
Our boat operators will issue their own protocol for social distancing on the sailing to Rona, utilising both outdoor main & flight decks as instructed where possible and when safe to do so – and therefore you should be appropriately attired in waterproof clothing.
Unfortunately, the boat operators will be unable to offer the usual refreshments on the journey.
On arrival to Rona, guests should remain seated in place. Bill Cowie will explain our social distancing measures & unloading procedure with guests, again, being asked to unload their own luggage, one household at a time.
There will be a hand sanitising station/s on the pontoon which guests are asked to use on disembarking the boat.
Once the luggage is unloaded & put into our trailers, if your cottage is ready, you may walk over to your cottage whilst we transport your luggage (whilst the second household unloads & we repeat the procedure)
Unfortunately we cannot offer you transport over to the cottages at the present time and so we ask you to enjoy the walk whilst we transport your luggage to your cottage.
Our cleaning/disinfection times will be longer than normal and so if your cottage is not ready, the bunkhouse will be available in which to wait with clean set/s of crockery/kettles, tea/coffee. We ask you to maintain social distancing, and to utilise the outdoor area. You may choose to go for a walk or explore whilst waiting but we ask you not to arrive at your cottage until requested to do so.
If you feel unwell during your stay, this should be reported to us. There are useful contact numbers for health services in the cottages, and they should be contacted for advice if you, or we, feel it necessary.
We have a cleaning protocol in place, & unfortunately some of the books, games & soft furnishings that we can’t easily disinfect will have been removed – so i) we won’t be looking quite as gorgeous as usual! and ii) please bring your own books/games/dvds
The cottages will be deep cleaned between occupants, including double cleaning & disinfection of high touch, hard surfaces.
All duvets/pillows/towels/bathroom, kitchen & bed linen/cushions & throws will be rotated on a minimum alternate weekly basis.
We will be alternating sets of cutlery & crockery each week and as a consequence the cottages may not have the usual generous amount of these items and so we ask for your understanding!
Unfortunately we will not be able to supply your cottage with our usual basic foodstuffs & condiments such as salt, pepper, cooking oil, sugar, tea & coffee – so please bring your own and take all such items back home with you to prevent waste as anything left will be removed from the cottages & disposed of…(and we hate to see waste!)
We will be supplying alcohol hand wipe liquid for cottage kitchen & bathrooms, together with virusidal household cleaners & cloths, but you may wish to also bring your own preferred hand wash.
Unfortunately we can’t offer Supper Club meals at Rona Lodge, but Bill and Lorraine are offering prepared meals featuring Rona venison delivered to your cottage, or home baking is available for delivery from Nickie.
Wi-Fi won’t be available for use inside Rona Lodge, but a good signal should be available outside the Lodge in the garden if you need it. Please call us beforehand to ensure that we can practice social distancing.
Your boat departure time from Rona will depend on the requirements of the next guest arrivals and whether they need a later sailing to Rona. We will let you know in plenty of time during the week to enable you to make arrangements for your ongoing journey.
In the case of our usual early departure from Portree, you will be asked to leave the cottages around 8.30am and make your way to Big Harbour to unload your luggage when we have transported it over.
In the case of a later sailing, you will be asked to leave your cottage 2 hours before the boat arrival time so we can start to deep clean and disinfect before the next arrivals – again, the bunkhouse will be available to you in which to wait.
It is even more important than usual that we ask you to leave the cottage as clean & tidy as you find it to enable us to have the time required to deep clean (don’t forget our cleanest cottage competition!).
We will be asking you to strip all bed/kitchen/bathroom (excluding towels) linen before departure and place in the laundry bags provided.
However, we will ask you to place towels on a 60 degree wash in your cottage as early as possible on the day of departure so we have minimal contact with the highest risk items until they are laundered. Washing powder is supplied.
Please open all windows possible before leaving your cottage.
As usual, we ask you to take all your waste & recycling back with you to Portree where the council waste & recycling services are now open.
If you experience any Covid19 symptoms within 21 days after returning home from Rona, please inform us immediately.
